The Finer Details
The journey begins in Genoa, where your day is already set in motion. With pre-purchased train tickets, you won't have any trouble planning, letting you settle into the quiet anticipation of the ride ahead and the coastline gradually appears in the window.

At your arrival in Monterosso you'll meet your expert, who will shape the day from this point forward. Here, the village opens wide with beaches and cultivated hills, where lemons, vines, and olives grow against the odds. Walk through narrow carruggi and notice how daily life adapts to the land. What does it take to sustain a community in terrain like this?

Vernazza draws you into a more intimate rhythm. Its natural harbor gathers history into one place, where trade, defense, and daily routines have long overlapped. Medieval structures rise above the water, quietly reflecting a past shaped by both necessity and connection.

Manarola shifts your perspective again. Houses cling to the rock face, stacked in a way that feels both fragile and enduring. Below, the harbor moves at its own pace, where boats, swimmers, and small gatherings define the flow of the day. This is where landscape and lifestyle feel inseparable, where even a simple pause carries meaning.

Riomaggiore continues the story along steep ridgelines and down toward the sea. Streets guide you through layers of homes and history, ending at a marina filled with working boats and quiet movement. The terrain shapes everything here, from how people build to how they live.

As the experience comes to a close, you are free to choose your return to Genoa at your own pace. With guidance and context in place, the journey back becomes a moment to reflect. The Cinque Terre stays with you not just as a place visited, but as a way of understanding how people and landscape continue to shape one another.

Frequently Asked Questions

You will travel to Cinque Terre from Genoa by train.

You will meet your expert guide in front of the Pharmacy at the Monterosso train station at your arrival from Genova. Please note that your guide will NOT be with your on the train from Genova to Monterosso. It is your responsibility to head to the train station in Genova Brignole and get on the train independently. We will purchase single tickets for you in advance.
This tour doesn’t include a hike due to time constraints. The day will involve a lot of walking around the villages, though, and in Riomaggiore and Vernazza, the paths can be very steep, involving lots of steps. There will also be opportunities to sit down at certain points during the tour.
This tour isn’t part of our family program, but it can be adapted for families.
Unfortunately, we do not recommend this tour for people who use a wheelchair or anyone with significant mobility issues. The terrain in Cinque Terre is very hilly, with many stairs to get around each village. Currently, the local train isn’t wheelchair accessible and there is no access for cars to the villages.
To travel between the villages in Cinque Terre, we will use mostly the local train but may use the public ferry for one of the journeys. Using the public ferry will depend on both the weather and how busy the ferries are - as long as the conditions are favorable, we can use the ferry - however, in the case of inclement weather or excessive queues for the ferry, we will catch the local train, which also offers a very pleasant traveling experience. Tickets for the ferry are at the clients' own expense.
According to our current customization policy, we can’t accommodate meeting point changes but if clients are happy to start at Monterosso and are not traveling from Genoa, this is possible. Simply unselect the train tickets to remove them from your cart.
Our tour of Cinque Terre doesn’t account for time to swim.
We don’t necessarily recommend this tour for people with mobility issues. There will be lots of walking on the tour, involving steps and some very steep hills. Cinque Terre isn’t very well set up for wheelchairs and the local train stations aren’t accessible, unfortunately.

Don’t just take our word for it
