We met John on our very first day in Japan, running on groggy jet laggedness and coffee. John’s contagious energy, genuine kindness, and enthusiasm perked us up instantly. John guided us through the fish market with confidence, knowing which stalls to visit for the freshest oysters, sweetest tangerine juice, and many other delicious finds. It was a joy to watch him interact with and support the local vendors, from the market stalls to the nearby sushi and wagyu beef spots. His relationships and respect for the community were evident. One of our favorite moments was when he explained the three different Japanese writing systems, sparking a conversation that our family kept returning to again and again throughout the trip. Also, with a Filipina in our group, we were especially excited to learn about John’s Filipino heritage, making the experience feel even more personal and warm. Starting our trip with John was the best decision, setting the tone for everything wonderful to come!
